MEET DR. RHONDA R. PRUITT

Rhonda R. Pruitt, D.M.D. is a 1994 graduate of Grambling State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 1999, Dr. Pruitt received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. During her senior year, she was selected to participate in the CODE (Community Orientated Dental Education) program. This program allowed Dr. Pruitt a chance to fulfill her desire to give back to an underserved community by providing quality dental care. Also, while in dental school, she participated in an externship at Louisiana State University and Charity Hospital, both located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 2000, Dr. Pruitt completed a general practice dental residency at the University of Mississippi Health Science Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She received extensive training in the treatment of dental emergencies, head and neck trauma, oral surgery, root canal therapy, cosmetic dentistry and other aspects of general dentistry.

Before relocating to the Grambling/Ruston area, Dr. Pruitt served five years as staff dentist at the David Raines Community Health Center in both Shreveport and Gilliam, Louisiana. During these five years, she also served as staff dentist at the Caddo Correctional Center and adjunct professor in the College of Allied Health at Southern University – Shreveport.

She has been very active in her local community. Dr. Pruitt has provided dental services to the inmates at the Winn Correctional Facility. She is also an active member of the Ruston/Lincoln Parish Chamber of Commerce, the Grambling Chamber of Commerce, and Epsilon Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Pruitt continues to expand her education through continuing dental education courses. She is also currently a member of the Louisiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, and the Northeast Louisiana Dental Association.
